Class Reunion

30 years, that’s how long it’s been since I had last seen many of my school mates. I wanted to write about this time in my life because I think it is significant (even if just for me). Where does this fit into my daily life?? Does it make a difference?? What can I get from it that I can apply to my daily life??

I am thankful that God has allowed me to experience such an event. Back then (in 1984) I would never have even thought about getting back together to see my school mates after 30 years, yet here I am and as I type this…it makes me smile.

It was great to see people we grew up with after so long, many we went to elementary, jr. high and high school together so when I say “grew up together” that’s what I mean. And even greater that they still remember you after 30 years of not seeing eachother. The pictures of us when we were going to school together as a name tag helped remember who we were and what we looked like back then.

So how does this fit into my daily life? It is a part of my life. My school and school mates helped mold me to who I am today. We experienced life together and maybe never thought too deeply about the future, they will always be a part of who I am today.

Does it make a difference? Absolutely!! I’ve been able to rekindle some past friendships and some that we were just acquaintances in school back then, can now become new friends and you can never have too many friends. My hope is that the difference it can make now is we can relate to the many challenges in life that we can help each other through as we have a sweet connection of our past and now for our future.

What can I get from this experience for my daily life? Newness. Friendship. It’s already started adding each other on facebook and even having chit chats and getting to know our friends better as we go forward in life from now until the Lord comes.

I am thankful. The town, the school, and the class mates have always had a special place in my heart and always will.
